Three PM1 Noir wedges standing in a bag on the first tee at sunrise
FOR THE PLAYER WHO LOSES STROKES INSIDE 120

It is not that you
swung badly.

It is that the club stopped. The PM1 Noir is a wedge with its sole cut open through the back, so sand and wet grass pass through the head instead of piling up in front of the face. Three lofts, $129 each, or save with the Pair and the Set.

For the player who has taken more than one swing to get out of the same bunker.

THE TECHNOLOGY

The sole is cut open through the back.

Everything under the ball has somewhere to go. That is the whole idea, and it is the only thing about this club that is unusual.

1

Cut through, not scooped

The channels run all the way through the head, so sand and grass pass out the back instead of piling in front of the face.

2

Rounded on the inside

Every opening is enlarged and rounded where it exits. Sharp inside corners hold onto wet sand. These do not.

3

A 239 gram design weight, placed on purpose

The weight and where it sits were worked until the head stays stable when it moves through sand.

THE DIFFERENCE

You do not have a technique problem. You have a club problem.

A solid sole is a spoon. It pushes everything in front of it. This one is a fork, and it lets the sand through.

A SOLID SOLE

Pushes everything in front of it.

Sand and wet grass build up against the face. The head slows down through the hitting area and the ball comes up short.

THE PM1 NOIR

Lets it through and keeps going.

What the club picks up exits through the back of the head. The head holds its speed, and the strike stays the strike you made.

What this is not.

This is not a training aid. It is not a gadget, it does not go in the garage after a month, and there is no claim printed on the sole. It is a wedge that sets up clean and familiar behind the ball and looks like it belongs next to anything else in the bag. The only thing unusual about it is underneath, where you cannot see it and where it matters.

THE BUILD

We didn't tweak someone else's wedge. We rebuilt it.

The factory sent us a 3D scan of a wedge head. It was a shell, just outer surface, none of the underlying sketches or curves that let you actually change anything.

So our engineer, thirteen years modeling steel parts, threw the scan out and rebuilt the whole head from scratch. Then we argued about weight for months. One version came back at 0.741 pounds and his note said it would play like an axe.

We landed at 0.528 pounds. A 239 gram design weight. That is what we sell.

THE SHORT SIDE

Every shot from 120 to the lip.

45, 56 and 60. The three lofts that cover the scoring end of the bag, already gapped, so you are not guessing where the holes are. One decision instead of three. $339, ships from Florida.
